LIMITATION ON PRODUCT QUANTITY AND AVAILABILITY NOTIFICATION

LIMITATION ON PRODUCT QUANTITY AND AVAILABILITY NOTIFICATION

At our organization, we continually strive to enhance user satisfaction and streamline the online shopping experience.

Recently, a valued client brought to our attention a challenge they faced while attempting to add products to their cart. Despite their attempts to exceed the available stock, the products weren't added, and unfortunately, there was no notification to explain the situation.

What we did:
We made adjustments and integrated code into live themes to monitor the quantity of available product stock. If a user attempts to add a greater quantity to the cart than what is available in stock, a message now appears: "More quantity is not available."

Outcome:
Enhanced user experience by informing users of the reason why the desired quantity of a product is not added to the cart.

Unique in this case

  • Clear interface for the user
  • Tracking stock of goods
  • Implementation using code

Alternatives, why was this solution chosen?

We could consider various third-party apps to implement this idea, but we preferred to do everything using code, since it would not affect the loading speed of the site.

The Benefits

  • Users see an informative message: "More quantities are not available."
  • The number of goods in stock is monitored in real time

What Was Done?

Using the code, we made changes to the Shopify store theme, which allows you to track the quantity of goods.

Results

The site displays a message when users want to add more items to their cart than are available in the store.
